Pre-Design Deliverables: Creative Brief (due at the beginning of class)

Use the text editor (and spell-checker!) of your choice to compose a creative brief. Print it out and hand it in. The brief should follow this format:

e. purpose/goals/objectives

3. client: (in complete sentences, as paragraph[s])
a. history/strengths/character of client
b. history/strengths/character of product
c. history/strengths/character of competition

4. audience: (in complete sentences, as paragraph[s])
a. primary target audience
b. secondary target audience
c. typical hypothetical profile person for each audience [name, occupation, income, age, gender, interests, other relevant information]
d. current audience perceptions
e. desired audience perceptions

5. media: (in complete sentences, as paragraph[s])
a. chosen media (CD-ROM, website, video, print, installation, etc.)
b. chosen means of implementation (live screening, online publishing, art exhibition, book, etc.)
c. scope/size (how many minutes long, how many pages long, physical dimensions, etc.)
d. technology to be used (hardware/software)
e. collaborative assistants and their roles (if applicable)
f. legacy issues -- how/by whom will project be maintained, or will it?

6. tone/manner/look/feel/personality: (in complete sentences, as paragraph[s])
[Use descriptive adjectives to describe overall design approach.]

7. constraints/considerations/obstacles/cautions: (in complete sentences, as paragraph[s])
[known issues to watch out for -- in terms of client, feasibility, etc.]

8. production schedule: (This is defined by the class, and will be the same for everyone, but go ahead and include it anyway.)
2 weeks -- pre-design/research
2 weeks -- design
2 weeks -- development/testing/implementation

Grading criteria:
1. approach is well-considered and sensible
2. approach is clearly, concisely described
3. your brief evidences a depth of research
