Marshall3024 Soundwalk

An hour-long walk beginning at at Oasis Ltd. Records on Main Street in Marshall, North Carolina, proceeding up Hill Street to Pritchard Cemetery, then back down Skyway Drive. Maps and cassette players with headphones were available at the beginning of the walk. The cassette was released on the Haunted Apparatus label and was available for purchase at the record store.

Side A(scending) of the cassette is made to be listened to while walking up Hill Street. Side D(escending) is made to be listened to while walking back downhill via Skyway Drive. Some of the source audio was recorded along the walk, and will blend with present-tense ambient audio during the walk. The composition of the audio attempts to discern traces of the future ghosts of Marshall, 1,000 years from now. The audio recording was completed on September 20, 2024: 4 days prior to Hurricane Helene. "Perhaps when you cut into the present, the future leaks out" (Willam Burroughs).
