During The Beginning is an installation that remixes and expands Genesis 1:3, "And God said let there be light and there was light." The piece performs the impossibility of reducing the creation event to words. It is comprised of two stations:

a. let/light | be/was: A two channel video diptych. Each channel is a four minute loop. The loops run perpetually.

b. go sand gold: A semi-genearative animation which perpetually collages hand-written words subjectively abstracted from the source text. The animation plays on a screen embedded in a table.
